Athlete of the Week: Ivana BUDEN (CRO)

Ivana BUDEN has represented Croatia in all the major compound archery events that have taken place since 2005. She climbed the World Cup podium for the first time in 2008 in Santo Domingo (second), and placed regularly among the top three since then. She competed in two World Cup Finals, in Lausanne 2008 where she placed 4th, and in Copenhagen 2009 where she was third. Currently No. 16 in the world, the highest rank she has reached is the first position (July 2009).

Ivana BUDEN came close to a podium finish at several world championships in outdoor, indoor, field archery disciplines, and finally won a gold medal at the Field Archery World Championships in Val d’Isere earlier this year. She defeated the 2009 cadet world champion in target archery Paige PEARCE (USA) in the final, 61-58.

Interesting fact, Ivana travelled to the French Alps with her father and coach Dubravko BUDEN and her younger brother Domagoj, who won the bronze medal in compound junior men in Val d’Isere !

Finally, Ivana BUDEN will travel to Amsterdam this week, where she will defend the title she won last year at the Face2Face Tournament.   Biography Extract:  Ivana BUDEN (CRO) – Born on 10 September 1985
