World Archery launches online certification programme for level one coaches
World Archery’s entry-level coach certification is being modernised with the introduction of a new online course that reduces the amount of contact time required to be accredited.
This online prime pre-course, developed in association with the World Academy of Sport, launches on 1 August 2019.
Across eight e-learning modules, coach candidates will test their theoretical knowledge through multiple-choice evaluations. Passing this online programme grants access to a shortened, five-day practical workshop – after which successful participants are accredited as level one coaches.
Certification lasts for four years with proof of activity and completion of an online refresher course as the requirements for renewal.
Member associations can buy access codes to the online course at a cost of 15 CHF per person, with discounts for bulk orders.
Coach candidates should have a minimum of two years archery experience and have competed in at least two events from the official calendar of any World Archery member association.
The first practical workshop is scheduled to take place in the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne, Switzerland on 26 November to 1 December 2019. Persons interested in attending should complete the online course before 11 October 2019.
Practising archery coaches can be certified upon completing only the online course. They must also provide evidence of attendance to a practical workshop held under the World Archery-issued manuals from 2003 or 2015 and an endorsement from their national federation that they are an active coach.
