Two archers from Belarus approved to compete as neutral athletes
Lausanne, Switzerland
Two archers and one coach with Belarusian passports have been cleared to compete as neutral athletes. Hanna Marusava, Nina Sobal and Anton Prilepov (coach) are now eligible to participate in all World Archery events.
One further application was rejected.
Belarus and Russia are currently banned from most international sport following a recommendation from the International Olympic Committee.
A pathway for archers with proven neutrality to return to the shooting line was approved in principle in April 2023 and implemented in time for World Archery Congress approximately three months later. The process includes independent vetting for any ties to the military.
