World Archery Mexico recognised as new official national governing body
World Archery Mexico has become the new national governing body for the sport in Mexico following unanimous recognition by the World Archery executive board in April.
The Federacion Mexicana de Tiro con Arco was derecognised as a member association in December 2022. Governance of the sport entered a transition period in 2023, culminating in the creation of the new entity on 16 March 2024.
Newly elected president Gabriel Ramos and secretary general Luis Eduardo Velez presented an ambitious plan for the sport‘s development following their appointment.
It prioritises youth participation, the creation of a national event structure, focuses on mass participation and commercial activities to build a federation that is financially sustainable. Good governance remains a key tenet of the newly-constructed organisation.
The country will continue to be monitored by World Archery observers.
