Pizarro’s Hyundai Archery World Cup Final dream becomes reality

Jean Pizarro at Medellin 2022

Puerto Rico’s Jean Pizarro has spoken about his joy of qualifying through to the 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final in October, following the conclusion of the compound eliminations round on Thursday at stage four of the circuit in Medellin.

“This is a dream come true, I concentrated entirely on the competition and this qualification to the final was achieved,” said the world number 8 to the Puerto Rico Archery Federation.

“This year it has double meaning because the format is a more complicated one since the bonus points were created. I am proud to achieve this and I will continue my concentration 100%.”

The 2022 Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit has been a good one for Pizarro, seeding second at stage one in Turkey before finishing fourth, a position he again finished in on stage three in Paris, with a ninth place in Gwangju at stage two in between.

While Colombia was disappointing for the 30-year-old, who recorded a 17th place finish after losing to Braden Gellenthien, he had just enough points in the bank to make it to Mexico.

“I feel happy with the work, being in the top eight gives me extra motivation to continue working,” concluded Pizarro, who is also president of the Puerto Rico Archery Federation, which recently organised the Puerto Rico Archery Cup in Bayamon.
