Martinez re-elected president of Spanish federation for second full term

Vicente Martinez Orga, 65, has been re-elected president of the Spanish archery federation for a second full term, which will last until 2024, after the ballot concluded at the organisation’s extraordinary general assembly on 13 December.

He received 86% of the votes. The result was ratified after the week allowed for an appeal under electoral regulations.

Upon his re-election, Martinez Orga thanked the regional federations, clubs and the executive for their work throughout his first full term but particularly during 2020 when, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, almost all national events were scheduled under strict health regulations.

Martinez Orga became president of the Spanish federation in 2015 when the previous incumbent resigned. He won his first election in 2016.

He has named José Maria Rioja Puras, Rosa Blanca de Salvador Gonzalez, Antoni Mesas Escribano and José Luis Chaves Barrionuevo as vice presidents for this new term. The remainder of the executive board comprises mostly presidents of Spain’s regional federations.

Two years ago, Spain hosted its first international event since 2005 when the 2019 World Archery Youth Championships took place in the capital of Madrid.
