Mexico announces team for 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships and Pan American Games

Aida Roman, Mariana AvitiaAlejandra ValenciaAngel Alvarado, Luis Alvarez and Ernesto Boardman have been named to Mexico’s recurve women’s and men’s teams for the ’s-Hertogenbosch 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships and Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

“I knew it was going to be a tough competition. I thought about that when training and finishing in this position feels good,” said top recurve women’s qualifier Valencia.

She, Roman and Avitia are the same three women that finished second in the team event at the 2017 Hyundai World Archery Championships in Mexico City – and that competed at the 2012 Olympic Games.

London was Mexico’s most successful Olympic archery tournament to date, with Roman finishing second and Avitia third.

Rodolfo Gonzalez, Antonio HidalgoJulio FierroAndrea BecerraFernanda Zepeda and Brenda Merino are the compound archers that will compete for Mexico at the 2019 worlds.

Gonzalez and Becerra, who finished first in their selections, will also represent Mexico at the Pan Am Games. The compound bow makes its debut at the event this year.
