World Archery Americas holds general assembly in Mexico City
World Archery Americas’ General Assembly was held in Mexico City on 15/16 October 2017, with representatives from 25 member associations awarding continental and world ranking events in 2018 and 2019.
Guatemala was awarded the continental qualification tournament for the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the Dominican Republic was appointed to host the second and final qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games.
Mexico (March), the Dominican Republic (April) and Guatemala (May) will host world ranking tournaments in 2018.
Mexico (March) and the USA (June) will host para world ranking tournaments in 2019.
The dates for the Pan American and Parapan American Championships to be held in Medellin, Colombia, were set as 14-19 August 2018; the event acts as the primary qualifier for the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.
The second qualifier will be held in Santiago de Chile on 2-9 April 2019.
Also on the agenda were reports from continental association President Maria Emma Gaviria and Secretary General Sergio Font, who recognised positive examples of good governance and highlighted areas of improvement across the federation.
World Archery Americas recognised Tom Green of the USA with a plaquette for his outstanding career as an international judge.
The USA's Phil Graves was elected as council member for a one-year term and Luis Leal from Guatemala was appointed as a member of the Finance and Audit Board until elections in August 2018.
The World Archery Americas General Assembly took place at the start of World Archery Championships, which ran from 15 to 22 October in Mexico City.
