Braden Gellenthien and Alexis Ruiz win 2019 Longines Prize for Precision awards

USA compounders Braden Gellenthien and Alexis Ruiz won the 2019 Longines Prize for Precision awards after shooting 442 and 409 10s in qualification and individual matchplay across the Hyundai Archery World Cup season.

“I’m really happy to win the Precision Award from Longines. It’s been a really good season,” said Braden. “I feel like my preparation and ability to calm down in the moment has allowed me to achieve all that I have.”

The 33-year-old finished second in the compound men’s event at the Moscow 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final. He lost only the gold medal match to Mike Schloesser, who was second in the Prize for Precision race with 418 10s.

Ruiz was eighth in the compound women’s event at the Final. 

As of Sunday 8 September 2019, both remain in the top spot in the world rankings.

The Longines Prize for Precision has been awarded to the most accurate archers on the Hyundai Archery World Cup circuit since 2010. It alternates each year between the compound and recurve categories.

It is the second time that Braden has won the award. The first was in 2013.

Four Longines Prize for Precision stage awards were also given in 2019. These were decided on the percentage of 10s, rather than total 10s, for the first time.

• Medellin 2019 (recurve men): Kim Woojin, Korea – 69% 10s
• Shanghai 2019 (recurve women): Choi Misun, Korea – 50% 10s
• Antalya 2019 (compound men): Mike Schloesser, Netherlands – 94% 10s
• Berlin 2019 (compound women): Sara Lopez, Colombia – 70% 10s

Schloesser and Lopez won the compound Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion titles in Moscow.

The 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup Final took place on 6-7 September in Moscow, Russia.
